BlockLab

A focus and self-control app for intentional device use

BlockLab is a focus and self-control app that helps users reduce distractions by blocking selected apps and websites on their own devices. It gives you a simple way to create boundaries, stay focused, and build healthier digital habits.

Designed for intentional device use, BlockLab gives users a simple way to create boundaries around distracting content, stay focused during work or personal routines, and build healthier digital habits.

What BlockLab Does

BlockLab allows users to:

  • Select apps and websites they want to limit or block
  • Create custom blocking profiles
  • Schedule focus periods
  • Reduce access to distracting content during chosen times
  • Maintain stronger personal control over device usage

The app is designed for individual, user-initiated self-management. Users choose what they want to block and when those restrictions should apply.

How It Works

BlockLab uses Apple’s family controls and device activity frameworks to apply blocking rules that the user has explicitly configured.

  • Choose the apps and websites they want to restrict
  • Turn blocking on manually or through a schedule
  • Adjust or remove restrictions at any time, subject to the app’s configured rules
  • Use BlockLab as a personal productivity and digital wellness tool
  • BlockLab does not monitor users for advertising purposes and does not sell personal data
Intended Use

BlockLab is intended to help people stay focused while working, reduce compulsive app checking, limit distractions during personal time, support healthier screen-use habits, and create intentional routines around device access.

This is a self-directed focus tool, not a surveillance product.

User Consent and Control

All blocking behavior in BlockLab is initiated by the user. Users explicitly choose which apps or categories to block, which websites to restrict, when schedules should begin and end, and whether a blocking profile is active.

BlockLab is designed around transparency and user control.

Privacy

BlockLab respects user privacy. We only request access needed to provide app blocking features, and we do not sell personal information or use data for advertising.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does BlockLab do?

BlockLab lets you block distracting apps on your iPhone for a set period of time. You choose which apps to block, how long to block them, and when — giving you full control over your focus.

How does blocking work?

BlockLab uses Apple's FamilyControls framework to apply restrictions you've configured. Once a block is active, selected apps become inaccessible until the timer expires.

Can I unblock apps early?

BlockLab includes a Grace Period feature that allows limited early access. An Emergency Breakthrough option is also available but limited to prevent misuse.

Does BlockLab work in the background?

Yes. Once a block is active, it continues even if you close the app or restart your phone.

Is my data private?

All data stays on your device. BlockLab does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

What happens if I delete the app?

All locally stored data — sessions, profiles, and settings — is permanently deleted along with the app.
